I wanted to hike this for sometime, and so with the clear dry air that arrived yesterday I felt it was a good time. Still a very hard hike, but easier when not 100+ degrees. I think it is at it's best in Spring, but it was still nice today. The area is much quieter in winter, with hardly any birds calling. Those that are around have that hard wing beating sound when they fly. Snow is still present on the Rincons, and there are patched on the north face of Kimball, as well as around the summit. There is still water flowing up high.
