| no partners | | Just over 2 weeks ago while in the gallery I had one of those life changing moments. The heart attack I had afforded me a lovely 3 day stay at the hospital. So we wanted to get out and test the waters so to speak at the Agua Fria. I wanted shade and flat, but didn't want to go to a place like Spur Cross with all the folks. The plan was to park by the restroom in the Agua Fria Monument and go west down the canyon to Agua Fria and then head downstream and seeing how I felt go up Baby Canyon. We made it about 1.5 miles down and I needed to rest and eat, it was a lovely lunch spot with cascading water. As we headed back up the canyon my left arm went numb with shooting pains..oh man oh man not good! An adjustment to the strap on my pack helped. Yeah I was a tad hyper cardio aware. While trying to jump across the stream I slipped and did a major split. Oh yeah the angioscopy in my femoral artery in the groin that I had, I was told no lifting and after 2 weeks a light walk around the neighborhood. Oh I am going for the Darwin Awards in so many ways. We opted out of going up Baby Canyon because bushwacking now seemed a tad dumb. We made it a whole 5 miles and although it wasn't our most unique hike, it will be memorable in many ways. Oh btw, the same day I had my heart attack was also my last day of smoking.....duh go figure. |
