Peak #1 of 5... or 4, aw c'mon, only 3 peaks today:
Left early enough that I had Apache Trail pretty much all to myself until crossing the bridge at the bottom of Fish Creek Hill, but the guy pulling a large boat was nice enough to pull over and let me by.

Wow! Forest Road 49 has had some vast improvement since I last drove it in September 2014, but it still has its moments... whenever washer fluid drops hit my windshield, that means the reservoir is higher then the windshield, as in STEEP!
:scared:
On the rocky parts I wished I had swapped tire sets before leaving home... the Goodyear MT/R's would have done much better than the Cooper ATP's. It just meant I had to go slower to manage the wheel-spin.

So... when I got to FR 1080 and found even worse loose-rock conditions, I decided not to drive up the last hill to where I planned to begin the hike. And instead, got my hike off to a heart-warming & breath-taking start 150' up steep and loose-rock terrain. After warm-up the rest of the hike seemed like a breeze... not quite, but close enough.

As usual, it took a few false summits before reaching the true summit, which offered awesome views. Took the usual pan photos and video before heading back... after all, I had originally planned FIVE separate ascents so I better get moving.

But then I decided I didn't like the steep rocky road hill back down so took a round-about route, up and over a hill to the south and took a lazy clockwise loop returning along a brush-choked wash. Dang, the cows around here don't seem to create hike-able paths, that's for sure!

After returning to the Jeep I took a short-but-slow drive out FR 3406 to take on my next peak, Peak 3751. But once I reached the end of the road and saw how far it was to the summit I took a moment to think... hmmm, although it's close at 291 feet, it is not a 300' prominence peak, so I'll skip it and head back down to Apache Trail to bag the other three I had originally planned.
