I decided to go hike a couple of Arizona mountain range highpoints:
1) Peak 3565, ostensibly the highpoint of the Hieroglyphic Mountains
2) Belmont BM 3137, the highpoint of the Belmont Mountains

Peak 3565
This one is off of Castle Hot Springs Road. I intended to hike up a road that would take me north of the peak; instead I wound up taking a road that took me south of the peak. Once I got below the peak, I had to go off-trail up to a ridgeline; from there I took a trail to the summit block and made my way up to the summit. There were a couple of short, awkward class 3 moves to make.

On the way back I took trails down to the road on the north side. My descent route was better -- it was shorter than the ascent route, and there was no off-trail.

I did not see any flivers at the summit, but did see some height of light wires.

This was a fun little peak to climb, with some nice views at the summit.

Belmont 3137
I drove in on Vulture Mine Road and decided to pull over and park about 1/2 mile before the mining road I intended to take off of Vulture Mine.

This one was tougher and slower than I thought it would be. Once I got off of Vulture Mine Road, there was almost no flat, even ground on the entire hike. Actually, it was more a scramble than a hike. The terrain was rough on a lot of loose rock, and there was enough vegetation to keep you on your toes.

Route finding was a challenge on this one. There is no trail and no cairns, and the route didn't seem very intuitive to me.

I located the benchmarks and both reference marks on top. I found the summit register log, but could not get the jar lid off. I doubt if many people come and hike this one.

Synopsis
Peak 3565 was the most enjoyable of these two hikes.

Distance and elevation gain for the 2 hikes is below. Stats above are the sum of the 2.

Peak 3565: 4.52 miles with 856 feet of elevation gain
Belmont: 5.16 miles with 1,612 feet of elevation gain
