| no partners | | we left Mesa at 6:30 and drove to Strawberry, then began looking for road 300 off hwy 87. The road was narrow and gravel, but in very good shape. The drive along the Rim Road was spectacular and I wanted to stop at every vista to take pictures. The sample in the photoset gives you a great idea of the grandeur of the drive. When we reached the Tunnel Trail, it was steep downhill as well as back up hill at the junction where it turns back up toward the rim. The trail was well cairned. The area of the tunnel was very interesting. On the return, we opted to follow the trail toward the lower junction where we hiked up the utility pole maintenance road. Not sure which trail would be easier. |

Wildflowers Observation None We saw Indian Paintbrushes and a number of other flowers that are not familiar to me. I did recognize the dandelions and elk droppings scattered all along the rim. |
