| no partners | | I did an out and back hike starting at the Glorianna Trailhead to Black Canyon Creek and back. When did the area around the trailhead burn? I was saddened to see so much of this desert scorched. It appears to have burned pretty hot and there was very little islands of green in the burn area. Some of the bushes are coming back such as jojoba, fairydusters, and regretfully, catclaw. It took me 45 minutes to get out of the burn area but that includes a lot of time clearing brush that had fallen on the trail. Most of it was broken Palo Verde branches. Some areas of the trail were completely blocked from them.
At Black Canyon Creek, I finally got around to checking out the ruin of a building on the north side of the creek bed, just east of where the trail crosses. There's an old road or ramp up to it. It looked like someone just stacked up the rock but there was some parts of the wall that had mortar. It looked like pretty shoddy construction from whenever it was built. |
