After a nice workout to get up here found nowhere to sit :D Besides that the “ historic” mailbox was missing, replaced with a new shiny red box bolted to a rock, courtesy of bucket list guys. Cloudy day and wind kept the temperature down, only 71° at the finish. Busy from the windmill to the trailhead with lots of horse trailers and riders, trail workers and prep for the copper corridor run tomorrow, which will go around the mountain. Not too many hikers out only about 10 other hikers met on their way up on the summit route. Took a lap around the top, ground was soft and muddy from last weekends rains, was told once the north east corner was where the heliograph site was located so it would be visible to the army post located where the trailhead is now. On the way up prefer to stay left for a light rock scramble instead of dropping into and out of the ravine ,further up there was a trickle of water flowing over the smooth rock area, just before you start the final short steep switchbacks. I enjoy going up to this summit but not a fan of the return trip with all the loose rocks on the steep slope, careful foot placement is key. Glad I made it out here today as planned, and avoid the weekend traffic, the truck bringing in porta potties to the trailhead was entering as I left.
