Staying over at my son’s place in Chandler ,after a night out , puts me only 15 minutes from the 19th ave and Chandler trailhead on the newly opened portion of the 202 , gives me the opportunity to hit this side of SoMo. Planned it to be a family hike to the Lost Ranch ruin but as the morning wore on the excuses flowed and bailouts occurred thus it became a solo hike. Weather was ideal not too hot even in early afternoon for this sun exposed area.Not being prepared for more than a trip up to the Lost Ranch Ruins , decided to extend slightly and use Gila trail , I think, to connect with Bursera Trail. Not as crowded as expected, believe I saw an elephant tree along a slope next to the trail, but I’m no botanist, even identified a Mexican poppy today.
