I couldn't let David have all the fun. I started a little too early so I hiked in more sun than I wanted but the heat wasn't bad. I was the only one in the lot and only hiker on the trail. No cars at the Carney Springs lot either. As previously reported the trailhead is good and the trail is fine until right before the small cave next to the trail. The burn is on the north side of the trail and then crossed the trail just before Fremont Saddle. The distant hills to the east are black. This is still a nice hike but the view of the Needle won't be the same for a while. The road closure sign was turned around facing the wrong direction so you don't see it until you are leaving.
