It had been over a year since I've hiked out of Rogers Trough, so I headed up there yesterday to see if the trails looked better then they did a year ago after the fire. Four cars at the TH parking when I got there at 8. Nice flow from the creek at the start. Started off on Roger's Canyon Trail wanting to get to Angel Basin. The initial part of the trail is fine then the fire and erosion hits. Some trail damage but still pretty easy to follow till the Reavis turn off. First part of the Roger's Canyon trail after that is a bit sketchy, as this is where the worst of the fire damage happened. Regrowth is definitely happening but it is still a sad sight to see. About a half mile past that the fire stayed above the canyon all the way to the Ruins, most of the original trail remains except in a couple of spots here and there. Took a few minutes at Roger's Canyon Spring looking for the old corral but was not able to find it. The nice flow of water stopped at the spring but came back up at the ruins. The last half mile of trail past the ruins is non existent so I walked in the creek bed to make it easier. Got to Angels Basin and took a lunch break. Tall grass everywhere at Angel Basin just waiting for another fire to come through. Took about 20 minutes to trying to find the Angel Basin Corral and troughs, however after walking through cat claw fields while wearing shorts for 20 minutes, I turned around without any luck and started back out. I had forgotten how much I hate the hike out, it is all uphill and when you are already tired it SUCKS! lol. Saw a couple of groups who camped in Angel Basin and one at the ruins. I was surprised to see a Subaru Forester at the TH. They have more balls then I do to drive that up there.

dry Roger's Creek Dry Dry
Dry at this part, however, there was light flow below the spring and past the ruins.
