Had the day off so headed out east and up 287 to the Upper Haunted Canyon TH. Parked in the two car spot and started up 203. Did not have a particular route in mind, just kind of went with it as I hiked. The upper section of 203 is definitely steeper then I thought and with a bit of snow here and there made it that much more fun. Got to the top of the Upper Haunted Canyon Trail took in the views for a minute and continued down past the water tank into Haunted Canyon. The intersection of Haunted Canyon and Bull Basin is a beautiful area full of nice shady trees, however I saw so much bear scat in that area, I thought for sure I would run into one, fortunately I did not. Decided to head up Bull Basin and come out at Miles then walk 287 back up. A quarter mile after the intersection the scenery changes to more desert scrub brush and it became extremely overgrown. It's overgrown basically all the way to Sherry Spring, it's complete shit an my arms and legs paid the price. Definitely the worst trail in the Superstitions I've seen with overgrowth. There were some nice pools of water here and there probably due to melting snow. Slow crawl up to the top of the ridge then down into Bull Basin. I have to admit I was pretty tired by the time I got to Miles and was really hoping for someone to be at the TH driving up 287 so I could hitch a ride, but no such luck. Long hike up 287 back to the TH. One Subaru at the TH when I left but I saw not a soul all day, which is perfect! Another great day in the Supes to mentally refresh.
