Met Katie at Pina Canyon at 0500 and headed up Marcos De Niza. Cloudy and humid, but not terribly hot. Continued west on Guadalupe Ridge, then dropped down to Hidden Valley near the tunnel.

Headed over to Mormon Loop and down that trail. While I had been concerned about rattlers in the rocks on Guadalupe Ridge, it turned out being blinded by early morning sun on Mormon Loop should have been the bigger concern. Katie nearly stepped on, then jumped over a small speckled on the trail. The snake never rattled, but did not appreciate our presence.

Continued east on Ridgeline and Beacon Hill to finish out the loop. Drenched in sweat by the time we finished, but good to see Katie again and get a solid workout hike to start out the week.
