We had great plans to set out of the JF Trailhead and hike down to Fish Creek and make it all the way to the Frog Tanks. We did not quite make our goal, but it was an amesome day out in the Supes for sure!

The road in was a rough as ever. I bent yet another sway-bar link. Gotta figure out why that keeps happening. We started off by Scott showing us the remains of the Miller Mine site and the grave marker of one of the miners. Still some signs of the mine, but nature (and filling in by the forest service) has reclaimed much of it.

After that we started making our way down to Lost Dutch Canyon. We saw signs of a trail here and there and ended up in a catclaw forest before fighting our way over to the wash.

Once we made it to Fish Creek, we could see there was a steady flow going. We were expecting pools here and there, but not such a steady and strong flow. What a treat!

The boulder-hop fest going down the creek was awesome. With the water going, there were mini-falls around every turn. Added to that, many of the trees still had their fall colors going. We missed the peak of that by a few weeks, but it was still an excellent addition to the already scenic canyon.

Slow going, a twisted ankle by Jason and many photo stops made our hiking speed pretty slow. We made it to Goat Canyon and decided it was time to turn around if we would make it out of there before it got dark.

No critter sightings, but we saw multiple sets of cat prints, tons of deer prints and assorted other furry little forest creatures.

This was my first visit to this section of Fish Creek and I have to say, it was just like the other sections I have visited - spectacular! I cannot think of a more scenic canyon in the Superstitions.

The trail climbing out was faint in places, clear in others. We knew which way to go an sorta made our own way out following Scott's lead.

We made it back to the trailhead right after sunset and were treated to a beautiful, but shortlived color show. A fitting end to an excellent day in the Supes!.

Thanks for coming along Jason and Scott. I know this will not be my last visit here. Let's go further down next time!
