| no partners | | Got back from Sedona yesterday where we hiked Wed, Thur and Fri so I wanted to keep up the momentum; such as it is. Besides, it was a lovely day and 15-20 degrees warmer so I went from hiking in pants, my vest and jacket to shorts and sleeveless.
I parked down the hill per usual and headed up to my little piece of Ireland, hiking counterclockwise up to the southwestern saddle. The grass continues to grow into the trail. I was hoping I wouldn't find a need to take pictures but alas, I took a few; especially at the end when I ran into the pair of Roadrunners . I counterclockwise-circled the western humps; saw a lot more Scorpionweed and of course, lots of Fiddleneck and even a few lily. There are more Brittlebush blooming now too. I tried a new technique to capture pictures of the typical flowers in a different way. The one turned out really well.
I circled the southside of Lookout and around the east side. I probably saw about ten hikers the whole trip and a couple twice as we rounded the mountain and met up again. Several had their dogs and only one couldn't muster a "hello" back to me.
As I was finishing off the last of the bottom circle I spotted a Roadrunner and then another. What a treat. And even though I didn't have my regular camera I did my best on this little safari as I followed them across the terrain. I think they must have been courting. Did you know they wiggle their tails like a dog? It's the cutest darn thing and cracked me up . Maybe it's a mating ritual (per google, that is actually the case). I did see where one of them nabbed a small lizard, also part of that ritual. Anyway, I was able to track with them for about 7 or 8 minutes.
WATCH ran out of power. |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
