| no partners | | Needed some exercise. Nice and warm and a good stiff breeze. Today I appreciated the breeze as the last few hikes I've done, the breeze chilled me at the end.
I started going up the hill and up again to the trail 1/2 way up to the summit and hang a right (west) to go and do my Western Humps loop. The Brittlebush are really starting to pop now and I did see a Globemallow. I also saw a blooming Ocotillo with a few blooms. There were a couple large smatterings of Desert Hyacinth glowing on this eastern side of which I tried to get a picture but it didn't turn out like it looked in person. The Scorpionweed on the west side of the first hump has really gotten big now. I continued around the southside where some of the trail was Brittlebush-lined so that was nice.
I encountered hikers off and on throughout the hike. I finished off with my little northwestern loop back to Tonto 3. I really have noticed how wonderful the desert has been smelling on my last few hikes... except for that Mistletoe. I just don't like that scent (verbena/gardenia-like) and it seems every Paloverde you walk by has Mistletoe; very fragrant this year. And still, no poppies. There were lots of quail out on the last several hikes too.
I'm running behind on posting trip reports as it takes me so long to make the videos; my own fault as I'm taking so many but I just feel I should take advantage of this time in our desert as who knows when it will be like this again.

In case you missed the last posting of my videos from my Lookout hike a couple weeks ago when it was so very, very green from Feb 21st, here are the links. I just wanted to fully document this hike like it was an educational one and hopefully, I won't feel the need to do it again. Also, I'm using new software so we have new transitions and music.
March 3rd update, come see my Ireland:

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
