| no partners | | Writing this five days after the 3-17 hike on 3-22/23 This was Plan C or so. Yes, I'm still catching up on my wildflower hikes.
I started my hike and had to put on my extra shirt because of the strong breeze. I wouldn't have to wear it too long as I was now going north on Apache Wash Trail. I checked out the wildflowers that were still showing off and then made my way to the Sidewinder Trail. There seemed to be more wildflowers which I was enjoying filming. As I started heading south I got a call from Ambika discussing preliminary plans for our wildflower weekend. I was describing the great scenery I was seeing here with the variety of different wildflowers in the later afternoon light.
I continued on my way and soon was on the Ridgeback Trail with the particularly green desert floor here on both sides of the trail. I made my way up to the Ridgeback Summit Loop in pretty good time. I do like the grade on this climb with its two big switchbacks. Just below the summit I was trying to get a good shot of a saguaro with the wildflowers and the background of the desert floor below. The usual great display on the east side of the summit didn't show up as well from the previous week but mostly because of the light. I got down the mountain pretty quickly to the Ocotillo Trail, but still grabbed some pictures and did some filming. It was a beautiful afternoon, even though I had something else in mind.
I got home and my internet was still down for the second day. I called to inquire and after being told I was a valued customer for 20 years, she asked if the modem light was steady white and it was. She was able to get the modem fired up again; not sure what they were working on as I didn't get "your internet is back up" text until the next morning. That's the longest I can ever remember Cox being down.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
