Day off Monday, so I decided to make a trip out to Tony Ranch since it's been about a year. Quick check of the weather, even though it was cold out, it looked like the rain was just about passed through so we went for it. Got to the lower Haunted Canyon TH about 9:15 with a temp of 37 degrees and a light drizzle. Quickly made our way down the old two track as the wind and rain picked up. Made our way across the exposed ridge and down to the creek bottom and start of the canyon. Once down at the bottom, I contemplated heading back as the rain continued to come down pretty good and with no jacket ](*,) I was pretty wet. We continued on and sure enough the sun made it's way out which warmed up the temps and dried off my clothes and shoes. Perfect weather all the way to the ranch. Once we got to the ranch we sat down and started to have lunch when the ice started falling and started falling hard. We took cover in the cabin for a bit as the ice squall moved on. Took some time to explore the cabin and ranch area and decided to head back, even with the dark cloud overhead. Literally 5 minutes after we started back the rain started, then came the ice again, then it got cold and the rain/ice turned to snow! It snowed on us for nearly the entire way back, however, it was not sticking. By the time we got back to the truck, I was beyond soaking wet, freezing cold and could not feel my hands (at least I made the decision to wear pants, lol). It was a bit rough of a hike back to the truck with the weather but Haunted Canyon never dissapoints; tons of water, beautiful green everywhere and snow, what more could you ask for. :)
