| no partners | | had other hikes in mind starting last Thursday but wasn't able to pin it down until this afternoon. My friend from Calgary is coming to town as she is sharing her Sedona Hyatt time share with us for a few days . I will be taking her on my local hike tomorrow and out to Treasure Loop on Monday. I'm sure she will ask, "what desert?" or "I didn't know the desert was this fertile "
It was definitely warmer today; ended up having to pull my pant legs up, ha! Lots and lots of people; I'm sure many tourists... can't blame them though. What a beautiful day. I just hiked up to Apache Vista and then on Sidewinder over to Ridgeback Jct where it wasn't quite as crowded. Ocotillos are leafing out again but interestingly, the Christmas Chollas have no bulbs anymore.
I hiked up Apache Wash Trail where the grass was the thickest of the whole hike. It really is quite dramatic seeing seas of green grass and future blooming brittlebush that looks like groundcover as it goes up the side of Ridgeback Mountain. Took way more pictures than I thought I would. I said, "Self, keep your head down and don't look around." but I was totally unsuccessful. Oh well .

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
