I headed up to Payson for an Archo lab related to the dig I have been volunteering on, but I got my signals crossed and it had actually been cancelled. Luckily, Katie had driven up with me to spend a day in Payson, so we knocked out an impromptu hike. When she told me she had never hiked Horton, I figured that would be a good candidate even with the crowds.

The lot was full when we got there and people were parked on the road as well, however, it never felt too crowded. I have to admit, I completely forgot how long the hike was and told Katie I thought it was about a 4 mile round trip. Just a little off. The pups had a blast and the spring is always impressive. Excellent trail per usual. We hit a pretty nice swimming hole on the way back and spent a considerable time there. Tough to beat this trail on a hot summer day.
