| no partners | | My bestest harem member Christina and I have birthdays in April. I asked her if she wanted to do a hike and she picked Quartz Peak (she did know I was jonesing to get back). Lazy morning start got us to the trailhead around 9am. Sun was already hot and the wind was calm. We usually do this hike in February, which provides a much colder start and more shade on the ascent. Air did cool down a bit as we climbed. We saw three cars at the trailhead parking and passed 7 hikers on their way back down the trail. Lots of blister beetles fornicating in the brittle bushes. I usually experience some stage fright on the final ascent to the summit. Today was no different. I was able to fend off my fears and enjoy the views atop the massive quartz outcropping. Winds picked up just as dropped off the summit. Pretty uneventful descent. Lots of lizards sunning on the rocks. Got some pics. |
