| no partners | | Karmic day I suppose. I killed a rat eating my outdoor chair cushion; then my knee gave out on my hike. Make out of that what you will.
I guess border patrol complaining about some of the secondary roads so a mini road cat had worked over a couple of places. It'll be a mess with heavy rain for a bit. One road that had been blocked by a tree was cleared and the hard to close wire gates replaced by shiny new metal ones. I drove as far as I felt comfortable with the Toyota then an area beckoned to me so I parked and saddled up. Once near the bottom some low rock cliffs drew my attention. A fair amount of faded pictographs of various types and some doodling that I thought looked modern. I followed a well beaten down illegals trail then went over to see some rocks. I shifted my weight, my knee popped and then I was not sure I could walk. I could but it felt very unstable ( my unofficial diagnosis is a small medial meniscal tear ) and I had to be careful about how I loaded it. Of course I was off trail so I made my way slowly back to the car, wrapping my knee with the belt I usually carry, which worked pretty well. I didn't have much pain but it let me know I could have if I put it in an undesirable position. I found more pictographs but more exploration was out so I walked some in the wash and looked over the area then made the climb out to the car. Glad I have an automatic tranny with this FJ.
The area did not get much rain but it's building up again, and the temps and humidity were tolerable.
Now I am home with my Vit I , knee brace and it feels pretty good, good movement not too much swelling. I'll lay off the exercise for a couple of days and start back slowly. Getting old---not for wimps. |
