Little bit of a challenge to get to the TH today. There was a car fire on the I-10 which brought traffic to a halt and then Olive was closed so I had to swing down to Peoria to get by the construction. I like to get out there when the park opens but because of the obstacles I didn’t get on the trail until 5:30am.

Started from the Waddell TH. This shaves about 2 miles off this lasso. Did the lasso going CCW. The trails were in pretty good shape. A few muddy spots from last nights rain. I typically don’t stop at Willow Springs, but with the rain I wanted to check it out. There was a slight trickle coming down the canyon wall. I don’t recall that being the case on my other visits. Incredibly humid today with no breeze. I felt like the humidity was radiating from the earth. I was dripping sweat within the first mile. Only a few users out today….4 hikers and 1 runner. Wildlife included a deer, squirrel and an owl.
