Arrived at South Mountain at about 5:45am which I thought was plenty early since the first bus was scheduled to leave at 6:10. There were already about 75 people in line for the bus when I got there and I didn't make the first bus. But I was on the second one which wasn't too bad. Started the hike in the dark around 6:45. It was much warmer than last weekend's hike and I didn't need a jacket, just a long sleeved t-shirt. The morning twilight was beautiful as we climbed the first hill.

Kept up a great pace for the entire 15+ miles and finished around noon. Taking out the 10 minutes for a restroom break at Buena Vista and 20 minutes for the lunch provided by the City of Phoenix at Telegraph Pass our hiking time was under 5 hours for 15+ miles. Easily my fastest time yet for the NTT.

The National Trail Trek is always a fun event that I look forward to every January.
