First hike in a couple of months due to vacation travel and holidays. Nice to be back on a trail again. I got started at the crack of noon. It was sunny and cool. Also hazy. I decided to repeat the loop I did a few weeks ago. Started from the Pyramid - I mean Bursera - trailhead and then headed up the Eliminator side of Prospector's Loop to the National Trail and on to Goat Hill. The climb up Prospector's warmed me up quickly. After a short break on Goat Hill I continued Eastward on National and planned to return via the Pyramid Trail. Reaching what had been the junction with Pyramid I saw from the sign post that there is no Pyramid Trail anymore! The trail I've hiked on more than any other on SoMo no longer exists. Well, the trail is still there, but it's now called the Gila Trail - at least at the East end of the trail where it meets the National Trial. That's disappointing. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since @LindaAnn told me about the planned renaming in a triplog comment in March 2023 (Here is the last photo I have showing the Pyramid Trail name). But I didn't remember that on the trail this afternoon and it was jarring to see the new signage. :x

So now to hike what used to be the 3.5 mile Pyramid Trail you start on Bursera Trail, then take Lost Ranch Trail for a bit, then follow the second sign that says "To Cholla Flats Loop" (but not the first one), and then take Gila Trail until the junction with the National Trail. Very messy compared to just taking the Pyramid Trail. Phoenix has been doing a good job maintaining trails in the park, but if you ask me they sure didn't think through the renaming of the Pyramid Trail.

Now we're going to need to update a bunch of trail guides to reflect the new crappy naming.
