Hiked into Haunted Canyon from the eastern TH. Cold start about 23 but soon the sun made an appearance and warmed it a bit. It's also on old road for the first 1.5 miles passing the Perez cabin which we checked but not much to see. Continued on to actual trail and the main transit through Haunted Canyon. Encountered some pools about 2 miles up canyon and occasionally passed more along the way.

We arrived at camp relatively early near the junction of Tony Cabin and Spring area. We setup camp and gathered day hike gear for a few short hikes. First we hiked back down Haunted Canyon and checked out the cave. Interesting to see and a fun short climb to reach the entrance.

After the cave we hiked over to Tony Cabin and the spring. Spring had great clear water with the trough mostly full. Then checked out the cabin spending some time for a break and quick snack. Kathy stayed at the cabin and read the book on the cabin history while 9L and I ventured up canyon.

We continued up Haunted Canyon to the Kennedy Spring area. We looked around extensively but could not find any sign of the spring. However, after looking more at the map I think it's actually up the side canyon about 1/4 mile. Having seen enough we ventured back to Tony Cabin and the spring. We also brought our filter gear so stopped by the spring to get enough water for the night and next day.

We encountered some wildlife around the spring and camp. Multiple skunks roaming around, deer and a somewhat aggressive fox which we though might have been rabid. Back at camp we settled in for the evening. We had talked to two bow hunters hiking out earlier and they mentioned it was 15 overnight. We thought they were exaggerating but sure enough 9L's thermometer hit 15 by morning so it was a cold start.

Next morning we took our time getting going out of camp and hiked out the 6 or so miles back to the vehicle. Great area to see again and quick overnight relatively close to town!
