| no partners | | | After research on my favorite rock, mineral and old mine P0rn site Mindat; I drove into an unassuming valley on a pretty rough road that had a tire or two off the ground crossing washouts. I had the place to myself and what a place it was. Probably 30-40 abandoned mine sites in 20 square miles. What it lacked in scenery made up for playing hunting for all the mine sites. Some underground, some great rocks, and decent hiking with plenty of elevation gain to get to higher workings. Lots of shafts. Also a side trip to a spring area I almost blew off; so glad I didn't. A pretty area with some informal wash road access to higher cooler canyons with some beautiful limestone walls and small cedar trees. I can see myself returning there even in spring with the promise of shade and interesting off trail hiking. |
