Caltrops for the win! Blooming fairly profusely in spots. At the parking place it was raining; non monsoon like just a gentle steady rain. Water had been absorbed into the thirsty land but still some pools and some epic mud. Greening up in spots. After the hard part of the canyon I decided to exit on a cross country overland back to the car. It tried to rain, I tried to wear rain gear but it was a sweat fest and I figured out how to protect the cameras whereas I could just get wet. That worked out. I had a wrong turn but then got back to the Jeep once I paid attention to the larger landscape.
Drive out fields of summer poppies. Had to stop and wander amongst them of course. Hope we get a more vigorous monsoon down here in the coming month or so.
