I got an urge to do this hike. I have a sister in the Show Low area so I figured we could do lunch afterwards to get more for the drive. :D I got to the trailhead a little before 8:00am. I believe it was around 60-70 degrees. One car pulled in right after I did. The trail was in the normal shape. Not as muddy as I thought it would be. Just the normal wet areas. There is one spot towards the turn around were you hear water coming off the hillside. It was running a little more than last time. not sure if that is a spring. :-k Some flowers here and there, butterflies, a couple fungi, and one mushroom being hauled off by a squirrel! :o Sunny at first with clouds rolling in towards the end of the hike. The one person that pulled in behind me passed me on the way in. I saw 10 more hikers and 4 dogs on the hike out. Always enjoy this one!! Grabbed some food with my sister and brother in law and ate it at Show Low lake. The lake looked a little low. Drove up through Payson and back through Salt River Canyon to mix it up a little! It was a very enjoyable outing!

A morning leg stretcher at the Arboretum. They had some kind of stained glass critters exhibited around the core parts. Not much flowers out. The Turkey Vultures are in season. At least a hundred in their normal hang out. When I was crossing the suspension bridge I was scanning the mountain side and saw a fox? looking down at me. Cool. Looks like they got some of that rain on Thursday but the creek is still dry. An enjoyable morning!

I joined Wally for a leg stretcher out in the Supes. The sprinkles stopped about 5 minutes in and the weather was great for the hike. Nice cloud cover and a breeze! Haven't been out Dutchman from Peralta for awhile. The trail is still rocky. There are more Saguaros standing then I thought there would be after the last fire in the area. Turned around at Coffee Flat trail junction. It was a nice morning to be in the Supes! Very enjoyable outing! Thanks for driving and the hike, Wally! Like HAZ, you rock!! :y:

Linda and I hit the trail around 5:15. Half hour before sunrise and 97 out. No sun then shade then clouds and a breeze. Linda set this up pretty well. Hadn't done 1000 aeg in awhile or hike with Linda so I was glad to get this one in! Trail was in the usual shape. Handful of hikers out and all seemed friendly.
Early start is the way to go!! :y: Thanks for the hike Linda! Like HAZ, you rock!

I was in the area and Bruce agreed to do a hike in my range. :D I hadn't been in this area and Bruce was a great guide and showed me all the cool spots. Cool area and you are able to pick a route even I could do.
Shame about the trash in a few spots! Only saw 2 other hikers and 1 fishermen as we were leaving. Fun to check out the area and get a hike in with Bruce. Like HAZ, he rocks!

Wally and I did a variation of this hike. It was overcast for the entirety of it! 👍 The trails were in the usual shape with a quail or rabbit here and there. We saw just a tiny bit of water in one of the little canyons and it was 🤢 and being hogged up by bees. Hackberry was worse, bee wise. I didn’t get a close look at the water hole but the area around the pipe had a layer of bees across the ground. Don’t think you could filter without getting stung! 😬🫣 It was nice to get out in the Supes and get a hike in with Wally! Humidity is definitely on the rise!!
Thanks for the hike Wally! Like HAZ, you rock!!

Wally and I hit the trail a little before 5:30. Started from the C&D parking lot. We saw half a dozen Mule Deer on the drive in. On the hike we saw A hiker here and there but it wasn’t busy at all. A few mountain bikers also but only on the Pass Mountain- Talon section. We had shade until 6:50 and about 4 miles done. Good workout and company!! Thanks Wally!!

Linda was good with an early start so we hit the trail at 530! I wouldn’t want to start much later as me and heat don’t get along! 😜 Nice hike with a fair amount of shade on the climb is always welcome! Pretty quiet out there except for us chatting away!! 😁 Nice 5 miler before 8!
Thanks Linda!! Like HAZ, you rock!!

Wally and I hit the trail around 5:30. The new parking area is still not open. Kingsnake said something about this in February. Wally and I went out Dynamite to San Tan and back on Goldmine. We stopped by the marked graves on the way out Goldmine. I believe we had shade for 3/4 of the hike! 👍😁. Great weather and company made for an, enjoyable outing! Thanks Wally! Like HAZ, you rock!!

Wally and I headed up to where Eagles soar! Bruce, Wally and I hiked the loop counter clockwise. The ground had signs of recent rain with some mud here and there. Nothing bad enough to sink in or harm the trail when we hiked, in my opinion. The climb up Derrek hasn't lessened! :o Once we hit Highline, I thought it leveled off but the climb went on for a little more. :? :D We missed the turn for purgatory so we skipped it today. :o . After being on the Highline for awhile Wally said this part seemed pretty smooth and he didn't remember it from when we hike the whole Highline. He also remembered Booneman saying how rocky it could get when he ran the Zane Grey 50. Well, Booneman will love this section now. Pretty smooth. Turns out Bruce looked at the route and this section was rerouted. I'll miss one nice section of Maples that got bypassed but not the aeg! Once we hit Horton we looked for fish by the footbridge and checked out the spring. We saw two small trout and the spring looked nice as ever. Saw the first hiker of the day after that. Took some pics and a break then headed down Horton Trail. Downhill from here albeit rocky. Checked out the Apple tree on the way out. It had blossoms so maybe some Apples this year. Great loop hike! Along with great weather and company, it made for quite an enjoyable outing! Thanks gentlemen! Like HAZ, you rock!!

Met up with Linda to do a version of the Mormon Loop. I may have to start earlier than 6:30 as Linda had to listen to me whine for half the hike. Trails were in the usual shape. People, pets, and mountain bikers were all friendly! Good to see Linda and get a hike in. Thanks, young Lady! Like HAZ, you rock!
