Wally and I did 3 miles out and back from Cloudview east last month. This time we did 3 miles out and back from Lost Goldmine Trail (east end). We went west to were we turned around last time from Cloudview. We hit the trail around 6:15 with headlamps. only car in lot. Temps were not bad and partial clouds were nice. Trail was in the normal shape. a little rocky here and there. Nice vegetation except for the Stinknet! We saw one headlamp up by Wave Cave. Didn't see any hikers until half way back. One group of 5 or 6. We finished up before 9 and the heat. Enjoyable outing with nice weather and company! Thanks Wally! Like HAZ, you rock!

Met Linda for a leg stretcher at South Mountain. She ordered some clouds and nice temps for us. Did a few miles on the smoother part of Bursera as an out and back. Enjoyable morning and great to catch up with Linda! Like HAZ, she rocks!

I did another ankle rehab hike along with a surprise guest. My daughter Erica! :o :y: With a late start (9:30ish) we decided to park at the C&D parking and go clockwise. We just planned on doing a few miles out and back. I figured this is the smoothest section of the Loop and JJ said there were Poppies spotted in the area(thanks). Sure enough we got to do some rehab, hike the smoother section, avoid the rockiest section, and see a nice amount of Poppies and a few Lupine! Started this late we saw the most hikers I've seen on this one in awhile! one group had 20 hikers in it! :o :D Temps were ok and we made it without a fall! :y: :app:
Afterwards we grabbed a bite at the HUB with a surprise guest there too! LiLD! :y:
A very enjoyable outing indeed! Thanks you two! Like HAZ, you rock!

I picked Wally up around 6:30 and we hit the trail around 7:00am. There were 3 cars or so in the lot already. I'm nursing a sore ankle so we were just gonna play the mileage by my whining! We turned around at about the 3 mile mark. We saw 2 hikers on the way out and under a dozen on the way back. The trail was in pretty good shape and the weather was great as was the company! Thanks for the hike Wally. It was good to catch up! You know, like HAZ, you rock! :D :y:

Bob, Wally, and I did this hike for our kind of same age hike! 64! We did not see a mile marker to figure out where to park. One of the boys pointed out the start so I flipped a Uey and there was parking across the highway. We followed a faint trail with some cairns up to the ridge and followed the ridge to get a couple extra summits and enjoy the views! From there it was on to do the Little Four Peaks. 1 and 2 are no problem but it was nice having Bob and Wally to lead the way on 3 and 4. Great views all around!! Once back to Peak 1 we followed the other faint trail back to make a balloon loop out of it. I may have fell once and slowed us up a little. [-( . After the hike Bob bought lunch at Dutchman's Country BBQ. Pulled pork sandwich, cheesy potatoes and a root beer were pretty tasty! Thanks Bob! I always enjoy doing these same age hikes with Bob and Wally! Hike, weather, company and food were all great!! Thanks Gentlemen Good Times and like HAZ, you rock!!

I got Isaac out for a summit/ leg stretcher! Trail was rutted in a couple spots otherwise in the usual shape. Some of the brittlebush thought it was spring. We did both summits. Nice little outing! Great weather and company! Always enjoy hiking with Isaac! Like HAZ, he rocks!

We had a great group for our 15th Annual Thanksgiving sunrise hike to Sunrise Peak. Temps weren’t too bad albeit a little windy. The colors in the Eastern sky were exceptional this morning! The conversation was colorful as well! Saw a few hikers here and there and all seemed cheerful. After the summit half did the 10 miler and half headed for the cars. It was great to hike with some ol friends and nice to meet a couple Hazers for the first time (John and Kathy) ! Thanks everyone! Like HAZ, you rock!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Hazers as well! Like HAZ, you all rock too!!

Me and LiLD went down to Tucson to ride in the El Tour de Tucson. LiLD did the 62 miler and I did the 32 miler. The temps were great but it was a little windy. We both finished with no injuries so that's a win! Den did get sick though but powered through. The rain held off until we were done. We saw a nice rainbow afterwards. Then it rained almost all the way home. The event was ran pretty good. There was a lot of riders!! Always great to get out for a ride with my son! Bummer he got sick and glad he was able to finish!
Like HAZ, he rocks!!

I wound up with an open morning so I ran up to See Canyon Trailhead. The dirt road going in was in good shape. Fine for most cars. There was one other car in the lot when I got there. I started hiking around 8am to blue skies and temps in the 40's. I hiked east on Highline for a couple miles then backtracked to the car. Trail was in good shape. There was a little fall color close to the turn around point. I think it is still a week or so early for the majority of Maples to change colors. It seemed like only 20ish% had color. Squirrel and bird was it for wildlife.
I dropped my jacket and empties off at the car and headed up to see Spring. A few more cars in the lot at 10am. Just a little color up to the See Canyon/See Spring signed junction at around 3/4 mile mark. Once you get going on See Spring trail the color picks up some. The only wildlife was the two dogs running at me barking around where the color picked up. The owners leashed them and I took the opportunity to check out the color and take photos while they continued up to the spring. I'd say the best color was the section from 1 -1.5 miles. Still over half of the leaves are still green.
when I finished See Spring out and back I checked out the trees around the parking area. I would say only about 10% have changed color so plenty more color chances in the next week or two. 14 cars in lot when I left around noonish.
I hit the little store across the street when you hit pavement for a drink and snack. I like to support the locals. Unbelievably it was my only stop all the way back to Mesa!! :o :y:
Room for much more color but I really enjoyed the outing and stayed upright the whole day!! :D :y:

Joined Linda for a mid morning hike at South Mountain. Flew in last night so I was dragging a little. Wait, that's my normal :D ! Signs of the rain storm were evident. Some ruts here and there and occasional standing water. A little water running in the tunnel and in Lower Pima wash. Linda was able to spot a little "quick sand" and showed me were it was. :D :scared: Pima wash trail had signs of a foot or two flow recently. The pavement work on the drive in and the parking lot seemed to be done. New top and paint.
It was great to get a hike in with Linda and catch up. :y: Like HAZ, she rocks!

This was my second day doing an out and back sample size of this hike. More cool houses and landscape with a variety of shore path footing :). It was another enjoyable outing and fun to do something a little different. :D :y:

We were in Wisconsin for a visit. This hike around Geneva Lake peaked my interest and wasn't far from Burlington where we would be visiting. It turned out I would not have time for the 21 miles around the lake. Instead I did a couple sample out and backs in hopes of doing the whole hike on our next visit. A lot of interesting history in the area from Native Americans to Wealthy Chicagoans and such. I thought it was cool that even with the big homes and properties they agreed to leave a hiking path around the whole lake.
I seemed to be between the peak summer activities and a little early for the Fall colors. The footing changed a little from property to property as each owner was responsible for their own section. I enjoyed my sample size hikes and it was fun to pick out my favorite house and landscapes for a pretend summer home. It was an enjoyable outing and it still has me wanting to do the complete trail next time! :D :y:
