We were hoping the snow didn’t all melt from Thursday night storm and luckily it did not. Last mile or two had patches on the ground until the last push up from the gate, which was mostly covered. Easily done with regular hiking shoes. Accidents on the 87 south so the reroute through Tonto Basin and Globe made for a long day.

Another trip out to see some of the dwellings - TH was empty on arrival, which was unusual given the Birthing Cave, but it was fully packed on the way out so must’ve just gotten there too early for that crowd.

We had an injury a little ways up from the turnoff so turned around but made it past the cascades which is one of my favorite spots. Lots of loose, slippery rocks out there, I wasn’t the injury but I definitely fell in the water twice.

There must be shooting/hunting nearby. Too close for my comfort - several shots hit something near by and debris came through the trees right next to me. Falls were dry at the end.

Absolutely perfect weather for this hike. The best turnoff from the Wash and Cave were both missed until the way out.

Fall colors were on point this trip. This was a redo from the spring - water crossing was way more manageable, about knee deep (but still very cold). Glad to be able to go back for fall!
