I headed up to Flagstaff Tuesday night after work and hit the trail at Cedar Ranch early on Wednesday. Berk Forbes would pick me up later at Shultz Pass and take me back to my Jeep.
It was a brisk 39 degrees when I got going a little after 7:15. The skies were clear and the snow capped Humphreys looked amazing in the distance. This passage is the longest but the time flies right by. It is easily one of my favorites and this time through was even better than the last. The aspens were gold and many had dropped their leaves on the trail. By late morning to the end of the hike I had 70 degree temps.
Berk brought a buddy and they hiked in from the Weatherford Trailhead 5 miles to meet me. I showed up shortly after and the three of us plus Ebba (Berks dog) hiked it out.
Afterwards Berk and I would go devour a pizza at Fretelli's. Awesome day indeed! Thanks for the assist Berk. I owe you one. |
