| | | The south hike in is MUCH nicer than the North IMHO, the drive was also a LOT more fun, the drive in to the North TH was crowded with sedans and civics last year, meh...this year we only had to dodge rifle wielding maniacs on Quads
9L, myself, VolcanoCLMBR and his friend Andrea (aka "Get me some Coffee") and our dear friend Chuck from REI all headed out early saturday AM for Circlestone and Mound
Mound Mtn was fun, a good chunk of HAZzers in the summit log, that's the bushwhack from hippy hell (or so said the others) but I enjoyed it...it was a maze of manzanita!
We found thousands of ladybugs on the summit to which Chuck exclaimed
"It's gotta be a trip for a ladybug to get up here. It must take generations!"
Both Chuck and VolcanoCLMBR have been awarded "Gimpy Hippy" status for the weekend for Best Injuries sustained during Hippyfest!
Chuck was bushwhacking up to Mound Mtn in his Vibram Five Fingers....oops! And jammed a toe into a rock and broke it!
VolcanoCLMBR was wrestling through the manzanita maze heading up to Mound Mtn and was nearly impaled through the thigh by a dead branch of manzanita! It tore his shorts into pieces and left an awesome gash on his leg.
Great job you two! Way to carry on the Gimpy Hippy tradition!
(I on the other hand was not injured this trip, but I'm sure I left a pile of carsick pride somewhere along Queen Valley road)
...For the record, carrying 3 liters of wine in your camelbak is a GREAT idea...until you forget its wine and not water or until it goes warm.
Great to see so many new faces and hopefully some of the Non-HAZzers will come join what a certain hanging Squirrel has come to refer to as our "Hiking Club".
Thank you everyone for coming out this weekend, I hope you all enjoyed yourself and had some fun hikes and I hope, even more so, that we can all actually remember what happened this time around. |
