This was a super-fun mountain to climb. Can't believe I haven't done it before, but I will definitely do it again! Some of the surrounding peaks look great too. Now I know why JJ has been back a few times.

The drainage is a real treat to climb. Solid granite with a bunch of scrambling and small climbs. The top of the drainage gets a little loose, but nothing terrible. It's steep. HAZ Tracks gave me a 1-mile split over 1700 feet aeg. :o

The summit is littered with video cameras. I counted at least 8, and kept seeing more every time I looked another direction. :scared:

I was expecting it to be warm today, but it was in the mid 30s on the drive in, and near 50 to start. All shade until reaching the saddle at the false summit and then crazy windy. Actually had to put long sleeves back on. The sun was warm on the way down but ducked in and out of clouds so it was no big deal.

Thanks to Bob for the rare Christmas ale! It was delicious :y:

The road closure mentioned in the Quartz Peak description is still there, but anybody can drive through it no problem at all. It's even nicer than Empire Blvd!
