| no partners | | I have a backpack next weekend so needed to get in a hike. I decided on trying part of the Mystery Loop I did last time as I know it had a little hill and a big hill. I finished all of #8 LV Yates this time before catching the 304 to the 302/1a. I was giving RS a try too with my new Moto X Pure Edition (Kemosabe2). I had put in some waypoints with descriptions for when I changed trails but I don't think I needed to. In fact one WP desc I must have missed the .55 or RS doesn't recognize the .55 as it kept saying 55 miles for this one trail.
Fortunately there was a slight breeze and cloud cover from time to time so it was ideal hiking weather. There didn't seem to be a lot of people on the inner network of trails I was taking. I knew I had a climb up 302 and I did have to stop for a minute... but my recovery time is much better than it was a few weeks ago so I'm making progress (plus I did Siphon Draw last weekend).
I've decided enough of Shaw Butte for awhile; I think I'm going to hang out here in the Preserves. Not sure what the elevation gain is on the 302 from the east or the Irregular C/302 from the north and west but it has to be somewhat equivalent. It's prettier out here and there's lots of different routes a person can take to get in that short 5 mile hike. Heh, I may even try the main peak one of these days as it's been since 2006 that I did it last. AND I'm thinking, it would be nice to finish all of the various trails here in the Preserve and try a couple different trailheads.
I was also trying out the Moto X camera so took more pictures than I would take on this hike if any. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
