| no partners | | While looking at google earth recently, I had noticed something atop a hill along Hells Hole trail that looked manmade. I hiked in with this in mind. I've walked past this hill dozens of times but never considered there would be something up there. There is no specific trail leading up there, but about a half mile past the Boyer junction, right before HH trail starts downhill again, I just veered off to the right of the trail. Once about 30 yards off the trail there was a faint switch back that took me to the top. There was a 4 foot wall that encircled the entire hilltop (about a square acre) with numerous partial and deteriorated inner walls. Not much else up there and it's really overgrown, but still maybe worth a look. Sheer drop-offs on 3 sides straight down. Great views from up there. I saw zero evidence of any recent human visitors. There a few other people out for the day and likely some folks camped down below. |
