Had my limit in 30 minutes, and off to hike. Hiked up to my favorite campsite along Horton creek, ahead of the masses. A quick set up and off to fish my way to the spring. After lunch at the spring I continued on the Highline trail east and to Derrick trail and back down to Tonto creek. Spent some time fishing near the bridge. I was near the bridge when I heard crying and then "help". A boy had wandered down below the bridge to fish, fallen, and sprained his ankle. He was obviously in a lot of pain, when his dad showed up. After a few minutes he was able to walk the 30 feet back to the road...
I completed the loop by hiking back to camp and had a quiet night. All of the spots along Horton were taken Saturday night. I packed up early Sunday morning and headed back down to Tonto to hopefully catch some more trout. |
