| no partners | | Started on Derrick trail at 7AM, was 55 degrees. Pretty easy going first 3 miles to Highline junction. Hung a left and headed west towards Horton Spring. Heard the unmistakable sounds of dozens of scouts as I approached the spring. Imagine my surprise to find that the noise was actually FOTG, Jackie, and the pups playing in the spring. JK. Was great meeting yall! Blanco was super friendly. Good luck on your upcoming Supes death march...
After some trout talk with FOTG and water refill it was on to D I C K Williams creek continuing west on Highline. Had a lunch break there and explored off trail upstream to search for the source. Never found it. DW creek seems to grow larger further upstream and after only a half mile it was pretty rough going over lots of downed trees and such.
Returned via Highline to Horton and picked up the pace heading back down to the parking lot as the skies darkened and the thunder rumbled in the distance. Achieved my 15 mile goal for the day. |
