We were pleasantly surprised to find water all along. Will get out maps and try to identify each water source, but the stream at Molino CG has flow and The Lake was in good shape and NO cows in the area - YAY! Tread is good all along and trail easy to follow, no real issues. Spotty wildflowers but what are out are very pretty! When we got to our water cache, we were disappointed to find that 4 of the 8 bottles were empty. 1 had a hole, 1 had definitely been opened and used - the other 2?? Flatten those empties, crammed them in the pack and went to find the other 4 in good shape. Filled what we needed and left 1 at the sign - relabeled for and AZT hiker. Found a nice spot out of the wind about 1/2 way between Redington and Italian Trap and called it a day. The wind died down for the night and we woke up to a light coating of frost and lots of condensation. Rose at 4:30 that morning not by choice. My phone had decided to go on DLS time!!!! But since we had a LONG climb up the back of the Rincons, I guess and early start was good. Wandered a few miles and then found a warm, dry spot to unpack, dry everything out and have breakfast before the big climb. |
