Whoo-hoo! Shower tonight! We left camp by 7ish and headed to Downunder Tank. FYI - if you have good eyesight and spy a second AZT marker, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! I wish I would have! Ha! As we went to cross the road, I saw a second sign at the top of the hill on the road to the right. Reading the description, it seemed spot-on, so we took the road rather than the single track that crossed the road. That choice caused us to walk uphill, completely circling the tank. STAY ON THE SINGLE TRACK. After finally finding the tank, we still couldn't find the cement dam / tap. Filtered water from the tank which was approx 90% full and good water. As we left, we finally found the dam. No water coming from tap but it was flowing freely from rocks along the side - clear and fast. Hit a little rain along the way, but it held out until we went through the final gate and high point above Patagonia. Then, as we descended, we walked out of the rain again and stayed dry all the way to the hotel - JUST in time. As we were checking in, the skies opened up and we, again, were grateful that that rain waited for us to find shelter. Very little trash / indication of illegal traffic along this passage. Trail is in good condition and pretty easy to follow. There are a few spots when crossing washes / drainages that it takes some route finding to stay on track. Stayed the night in Patagonia at the Stage Stop Inn. Excellent accommodations! The owners were helpful. You can do laundry there. The hotel's restaurant has yummy fajitas and margaritas! The next day we hung around, checked out Patagonia Lake and ate at the Velvet Elvis - also very good food! A couple of markets in town give you the chance to resupply with some good bars and enjoy other food.
