I rolled in Horton creek Friday afternoon to find an afternoon storm in progress. Waiting out the lighting, I got started at 5PM in a slight drizzle. I made camp about 2 miles in at a familiar spot. I don't think anyone else was camping along the entire creek. Saturday I hiked up to the spring, over to the hatchery, and back down to the bridge, while fishing along the way. That was until I ran into a family swimming in Tonto creek. Not surprisingly, I ran into many more before I made it to the bridge and then back up to camp. There were at least 8 groups swimming in spots along Horton creek too. So much for fishing... The place really emptied out after dark. I think only 1 or 2 other groups camped along Horton.
The blackberries are really ripening now. They are everywhere! |
