| partners | | We got started about 8:30am and headed up Derrick trail. The weather was really nice, and we didn't see anyone else along Derrick; turned onto Highline, then headed up Promontory. I've done the Derrick-Horton loop plenty of times, but Promontory only a couple of times, and it's been quite a while, so my memory of it wasn't great. It was a little hard to follow in places, but I remembered enough to keep generally headed in the correct direction. I walked through enough thorny bushes to decide that my legs were scratched up enough to probably eliminate any chances of me wearing a dress for Easter tomorrow. We got to the top, walked around a little while, took some pics, then headed back down and continued on to Horton. We stopped at the spring for a sandwich, then headed back down to my car. It was a little warm along Horton, and any shade felt nice. I dropped Van back off at his car at about 4:30--just in time for me to discover that my mother-in-law had changed our 6pm dinner plans to 5pm instead, and my husband could not stop laughing when he said I should just show up at the restaurant in my hiking clothes. I was a MESS, but I didn't really care and it was kind of fun to see the horrified look on my sister-in-law's face. |
