We got to the trailhead just before seven and it was full. However, only because there was some trail running event going on, but it did not impact us and we did not see our first person on the trail until after mile nine. The trail is in great shape and you can't beat that grade! I don't think you ever hit 500 feet gained in a mile for the entire climb, very manageable. The fall colors are not at their peak, but they were terrific in our eyes and probably the highlight of the hike. The thriving squirrel population was the highlight of the hike for the dogs. Aside from some very light sprinkles on the way down, we had great weather the entire day. We stopped at Doyle Saddle, had a quick snack and turned around there. The hike down was fast and the views were even better in spots. Elden in particular was standing out, nearly looking on fire with its vibrant fall colors.
A great trail and good recommendation. |
