| no partners | | Checking older triplogs I discovered it had been over 6 years since I had boots on the ground on the Tule Canyon Trail so today was the day we corrected that lapse. Only a few campers seen along FR449 on the drive in, and we arrived to an empty trailhead. The stage was set for an outstanding day.
Overall Tule Canyon Trail is in great shape and is recovering nicely from the Woodbury Fire. During the tight climb up to the mesa is where you'll see the worse of the burn but there are still sections in that area that survived unscathed, a few pools of water remained in the drainage from the last storm. The walk along the mesa just before you hit Two Bar Ridge is beautiful, with more green than I recalled even prior to the fire. The trail here is very well marked and easy to hike. We did a little recon on the Two Bar Ridge Trail, had lunch, and then retraced our steps back to a still empty trailhead. Saw no others the entire day.
It was an outstanding day. |
