| no partners | | I needed to get out and enjoy the wonderful day and opted for a little explore along the Hawes Trails near Granite Reef Dam. I decided to give the Saguaro Trail a visit because of all the little peaks along the northern edge.
I parked on the pull out on the Bush Highway about 1/4 mile east of Granite Reef Rec area and started across. I think the access trail is the Granite Trail, but the Saguaro Trail starts right after you start hiking up. This was my first time on this trail and I really was impressed. You can tell this is a mountain biker area as the trails were smooth and very well maintained. I dodged one group of bikers after another along the hike up.
I wanted a find a view of the western horizon so I explored the peaks off trail. I did find a couple and waited for the sunset. Lots of hikers and bikers below in the pre-sunset. The clouds were sparse, but it was still a nice sunset. Sitting on a mountain and watching the sun come up or down is always a very wonderful experience.
The little perch I found had a great view of the river at the dam and I was hoping for a little color reflection, but it never happened. I started down once the sun disappeared and headed back to the Bush Highway to my truck.
I will be back here again for sure. |
