We got an extremely late start (10:30ish). As you know, the first two and half miles to Fremont Saddle are all uphill, and that took some time. The people we passed (both going up and down), were friendly and cooperative. We all tried to "mask up" whenever we were around others. The first part was very busy!
After Fremont Saddle, it was easy cruising, and we pushed right along, only passing a handful of hikers. We took a "lunch" break about 2:00.
As we got closer and closer to First Water, I was worried that we might not make it before dark. Judging by the angle of the sun, I could tell it was going to be close. And it was. We rolled into the parking lot just as it was getting too dark to hike without a headlamp. Guess what I didn't have. Yeah, a headlamp!
All in all, it was a great day. Yes, we were sore and tired. But it was nice to spend time with my kids. Great memories! |
