Plenty of dust on Peralta road ,on the way in some cattle standing in the road on the way out they had moved to the shade. Saw no one on Lost Goldmine heading toward Carney, no one after either but a group of 4 were preparing to exit the cave as I arrived. Rare occurrence of having the cave to myself. Had a snack, created an echo and then departed. After the steeper portion did see a rattlesnake cross the trail in front of me , it didn’t care for my picture attempt stop which wasn’t successful as it moved into vegetation and coiled up . Tail kept moving for a solid 3 minutes while I never was able to get a clear picture That was it for wildlife though a cow decided to take up the whole trail and refused the cow whisperers encouragement to move. Substantial bee activity amongst the blooming ironwood and plentiful saguaros . Turned out to be a good time to find solitude at the cave , it never felt that warm until finishing up. |
