I decided to hike up to the Mount Ord summit today, armed with microspikes this time!

It was a nice sunny day with only a very light breeze -- I never needed a jacket.

The snow had melted some from 3 days ago, when I made my aborted attempt up to the summit. This time, I did not put microspikes on during the ascent, but I put them on for about 1.5 miles on the descent. It was safer and faster to be descending with the spikes on.

On the way up I bypassed the trench that is about halfway up FR 27, but on the way back I missed the bypass and just climbed in and out of the trench. It was somewhat difficult to climb out of it, so I don't think that I will try and climb in and out of it again.

On the descent, I came across someone in a Jeep Rubicon about 3/4 mile down FR 27. He said that he did not know that the road was so washed out and he was getting ready to turn around. I told him that turning around would be a good decision because the road would be much worse if he continued further, and would not be passable before long.
