| partners | | I had been eyeing the Beaver Turkey Ridge WQA for a while, and decided to check it out today to see if there was any fall foliage in the area. I managed to bribepersuade Tracie, my intrepid and favorite hiking partner, to come with me on the hike.
We started at the Fish Hatchery and took the Highline Trail to Horton Spring; then we went up the steep Horton Spring Trail up to the Rim Road; then we wandered for a while in Beaver Turkey Ridge before making our way over to the Babe Haught Trail; then we descended from the Rim on the Babe Haught Trail back to our starting point.
I enjoyed hiking this section of the Highline Trail. While on the Highline we saw a bull elk, and heard quite a bit of elk bugling. While we were taking a snack break at Horton Spring, Tracie saw something moving above us to our left. We took a closer look and saw a coatimundi scampering on the ground. We saw one deer in the WQA, but saw no other animals in the WQA.
There was a decent amount of fall foliage in Beaver Turkey Ridge, and I would think that it will get better over the next week or so. |

Autumn Foliage Observation Moderate There was a fair amount of fall foliage in the Beaver Turkey Ridge WQA: yellow aspens, yellow oak leaves, and some red maples. However, the foliage should be better over the next week or so. |
