| partners | | | Started from the 104th St trailhead a little before sunrise. Made our way up to Bell Pass via Levee, Paradise, Gateway Loop, and Bell Pass trails. A handful of people out, but not many. Shade all the way to Bell Pass. After that, we were in the sun, but still cool. Down Prospector, then up Thompson Peak Rd. As usual, the road was a grind. Finally got to the top, where we took a long break. There was one woman up there who suddenly decided she was going to join us on the way back out. Very strange, but I got rid of her quickly. Sometimes I am just not a nice person. Hike down was uneventful, but warm. Lots more people once we were back on the west side of Bell Pass. No clouds, not much breeze. |

I wanted to be respectful to the preserve closing hours, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to get all the way to the top, but I got pretty close. Heading back down is much faster traveling and I was able to make it back to my vehicle right at sunset. I got my workout, without the masses, 5 minutes from my house and I’m happy with that. I’ll be taking this route from now on to avoid the tourists! Next time I’ll try to get my work done faster (or hike faster, lol!) so I can go a bit further. Every day can’t be an adventure but getting outside is what’s most important.
