| no partners | | I was looking on my computer and I hadn't hiked the Coachwhip Trail since 2011, so it seemed like a good time to go back and hike it again. I started from the main lot and hiked southbound (CCW) on the Pemberton loop, then turned left onto the Coachwhip, left again on the Dixie Mine Trail, then hiked back on the Pemberton Trail again, making a lasso loop out of it. First mile was in the dark, and it was surprisingly a bit chilly. Once the sun hit, it warmed up fast as usual, but it was still comfortable all morning.
I was able to hike faster than my usual pace due to the mostly smoother trails in the county parks, so I made pretty good time. I saw one mountain biker for the first 7 miles, then more traffic once I got back on the Pemberton Trail. No wildlife seen other than a desert hare. The interpretive sign by the Pemberton Ranch site that gives the history has been completely bleached white by the sun, someone wasn't thinking when they designed that. |
