This is my favorite summer hike for Flagstaff. We lucked out with very nice weather the entire hike. No cold rain, no high winds and enough breeze to keep the bug swarms on top in control. No changes in the trails since last year. The drive to the trailhead is pretty car friendly. Just washboard heading up for awhile. It seemed we crossed paths with more hikers doing Humphreys via Inner Basin than in any previous year. A good variety of ages and personalities too.
Our pace above the treeline was a break-a-thon. We hopscotched with a few others. The saddle wasn't packed. Lots of hikers all the way to the summit. Amazingly still snow down in the cirque that will easily last into August.

Wildflowers Observation Moderate paintbrush heading into the basin, basin loaded with sneezeweed or such, lots of the stinky purple stuff on the upper #29 into #102, fields of yellow north of Agassiz before dropping down to the Hump saddle |
